Hire Resolve's client is a leading mining company and is seeking an experienced Rock Engineering Manager to join their team. As the Rock Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance on rock engineering matters and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the mine.
Key responsibilities:
Develop and implement rock engineering strategies, systems, and procedures
Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential rock-related hazards
Provide guidance and support in the design and implementation of ground control measures
Monitor and analyze ground stability through regular geotechnical inspections and assessments
Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with rock engineering regulations and standards
Manage a team of rock engineers and ensure their professional development
Prepare and submit reports to management and regulatory bodies
Requirements:
Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 (Maths and Science)
Certificate in Rock Engineering (Metalliferous) issued by the Minerals Council of South Africa
Tertiary (Bachelors) Degree or advanced Rock Engineering Certificate issued by the Minerals Council of South Africa
Minimum of 3 years’ geotechnical experience working at a mine/s of similar depth or similar geotechnical risk
Experience in mine seismicity and the geotechnical interpretation thereof for excavation stability
Experience in the interpretation of numerical modelling results for excavation stability
SANIRE Membership (professional body for Rock Engineers)
Experience working in a Mining environment
Medical Certificate of Fitness
Computer Literacy (including use of Word, Excel & Power Point)
Fluency in both verbal and written English is essential
